The Client

Helsingin Kaupunkitilat Oy was established in 2022. It rents and develops culturally significant spaces, areas and market places in the city (Market quarters, Teurastamo and Tukkutori area, all market halls, and markets: Kauppatori, Hakaniemi tori, Hietalahti tori, Töölöntori, Fredrikintori, Ylä-Malmi tori and Etelä-Haaga tori ). The company is owned by the city of Helsinki.

The Need

Identities brought under the operations of the parent brand Kaupunkitilat Oy had been formed and defined over the years at very different levels.

Urban spaces and sub-brands needed an identity system that enables agile material production at different meeting points and brings out the characteristics of different locations through defined sub-looks.

The Solution

Unification and and ease of use was at the center of the assignment solution. The focus was to create delightful, recognizable and strong sub-brands based on the specific values and heritage of the locations.

Implementation is a unified and condensed brand manual that compiles the identity systems of Kaupunkitilat and its sub-brands into one inspirational easy to use guide.

Special attention was paid to identify and clarify the characteristics of each brand.
